Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Price: £33.50 for 30ml
You can purchase from or Debenhams.

The website says: “This worry-free, long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity and nonstop activity. It feels lightweight and comfortable and won’t change colour, smudge or come off on clothes. Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.”

I came across this foundation when looking for one that was suitable for oily skin, I’ve had my fair share of foundations that have turned into an oily mess after a couple of hours and decided I wanted to find one that really did last and could control my oily skin. I think I speak for anyone with oily skin when I say there’s nothing nice about half of your foundation coming off on your hand when you touch your face.

I ventured to the Estee Lauder stand at Debenhams and got colour matched……ish… I’ll explain later. I got to have it put all over my face, which although the application wasn’t great (the girl was very….rushed in her application) I still wore it for the rest of the day to see if I would turn oily.

The first day I tried it was for a friends wedding, it was a very early start (so it was a 4am application), a 6 hour car journey and then it was all rush until we left the wedding at about 10.30 pm.

It applied beautifully, worked well with my beauty blender and gave great coverage. At no point during the very long day did I have to touch up my foundation, I didn’t appear oily and it was not too drying.

The only issue I have with it is that it oxidises on my skin, so although this is pretty close to my skin tone when I apply it after a short time it turns orangey. As I’m the second to lightest shade they do I’m not entirely sure what I plan to do next (maybe try the lightest shade but I feel that may not match my skin tone).

Pros: Long lasting, good shade range, great for oily skin, nice coverage, a little goes a long way and it’s easy to get your hands on.

Cons: Oxidises and no pump.

By far the pro’s outweigh the cons and it is my go-to foundation. If it didn’t oxidise on me then it would tick all the boxes I have. I’m not sure if it’s just me that has a problem with the foundation oxidising as it could very well be my skin that’s the problem. I certainly would (and do) recommend this foundation to anyone that wants full coverage foundation for oily skin.

I am aware you can buy a pump for the foundation, however it would be nice if it came with one already.

I rate this product 9.5/10.

Charlotte Tilbury Scent Of A Dream Review

Good Evening,

I’ve always consistently loved a certain perfume (review on that one coming soon!) but last year I bought some products from Charlotte Tilbury and with it got a sample of her “Scent Of A Dream” perfume. I didn’t really think much about the sample at the time and it sat not being used for a while, until one day I came across it again and gave it a try.

I really loved the smell of this perfume and it lasted for AGES! At the time I was working long days in the salon and smelt of wet dog most of the time, I really felt like I needed a long lasting perfume. I certainly found it with this one. The Charlotte Tilbury site describes it as:

Darlings, I have created a one-of-a-kind ‘floral chypre’ perfume harmony that IGNITES a mind-altering fleurotic frequency. Featuring a blend of JOY top notes including Lemon, Peach and Black Pepper, ‘FLEUROTIC’ heart notes of Jasmine, Frankincense, Tuberose and Violet, plus MAGIC MOLECULE base notes of Fire Tree, Iso E Super, Patchouli and Ambroxan. It attracts LOVE, LIGHT, POWER, POSITIVITY and SEX to the wearer!

I’m not skilled with describing scents but it’s a rich scent, strong but not harsh. I can’t tell you what it smells like, it to me is a very safe smell. I feel like it might be similar to a perfume my grandma wore when I was young as it does remind me of her, not in the old person smell way but the nice, safe, warm way. See I’m really bad at this…..

When I wore it out for the first time I had a few people ask me what it was as they liked it, it’s strong enough for people to notice without being over powering.

Now what I will say is that this is fairly up there in price, at the time of posting this the price list is as follows:
30ml – £49
50ml – £68
100ml – £96

I had to sit for a while and decide which to buy, I’m always reluctant to spend a lot of money on perfume. When I buy a perfume I want it to smell good, last long and be noticed, for that price I want to not smell like me! I feel like this perfume ticks those boxes.

I paid slightly more so that I could get a few samples of other products, after all the perfume sample was what made me decide to buy this perfume in the first place. The down side to that is that the samples are very very small, which when I spent £100 in total on the site I’d have liked a bit more of product to sample.

The perfume arrived fast and in good condition, it was Free delivery.

The perfume arrives in a silk bag which is very pretty, although in my opinion I’d have liked a choice (silk bag or bigger samples…I’d have picked bigger samples!)

Silk Bag

Inside the silk bag the perfume is boxed in a stylish box that is very much in the Charlotte Tilbury style.

Charlotte Tilbury Perfume Box

Now the good stuff, the bottle is stunning. I may actually keep the bottle long after it’s empty as it’s too nice to throw out.

Charlotte Tilbury Scent Of A Dream

So here’s my final thoughts on this perfume,  the bottle is beautiful, the box is stylish and the smell is divine. If you’re a perfume lover and want something that’ll get you noticed then this might be worth the purchase. If you’re not a big perfume wearer then it might be worth buying the smaller bottle or see if you can get to Charlotte Tilbury to try it out first.

I’ll certainly buy it again, although it won’t replace my all time favourite it will certainly be loved, used and is in my top 3!

Estée Lauder Pure Color Love Lipstick

Something I never thought I’d have on my ride or die list was a lipstick, cursed with an overbite (yes TMI) I’ve found it next to impossible to find a lipstick that wouldn’t get all over my teeth within minutes of application. I’d accepted my fate of matte liquid lipsticks until one March day.

I ventured into Debenhams to pick up a new foundation (Review coming soon!) as I’d finally given in and decided to buy a more suitable for oily skin, I was now so fed up of looking like an oil slick after only an hour wearing my Too Faced Born This Way foundation. I found myself at the Estée Lauder counter as I knew their Double Wear foundation was apparently one of the best for oily skin. You know when you go to these counters you intend to only buy one thing and leave with £100 + worth of products? yeah that was this day.

The lovely lady at the counter had applied my new foundation for me to try out, along with the concealer, primer and now by this point I looked colourless. She asked if she could apply some makeup to my eyes, cheeks and lips….of course….I couldn’t continue the rest of my day like this. When it came to my lips she pointed to a fairly new launch of theirs which was a lipstick, I cringed at the thought of it being all over my teeth before we’d even left Debenhams. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I bought it and decided to give it a real try out on a day that I knew I needed it to last.

Before I tell you how it went here’s some product information in case you decide to buy it…or go in store and check it out.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Love lipstick in “Strapless” @trustbeautyblog

So, let’s talk about how I tested it out, I was attending a friend’s wedding and really didn’t fancy finding liquid lipstick all over my chin half way through the day so I decided to give this beautiful lipstick a try. I bought the colour “Strapless” which is a beautiful pinky shade which isn’t too far from my natural lip colour. I applied this before we’d set off for the wedding (a long, boring 4 hour drive!) and after drinking water on the way down I did have to do a touch up once we arrived. I found this very easy to do with the shape of the lipstick, actually easier than normal shaped lipsticks.

Throughout the day I had to re-apply after eating however it didn’t look bad, you couldn’t tell it wasn’t perfect unless you came right up into my face. I applied after my food and wine, at around 5pm and didn’t feel I needed to reapply after that. When I got to my hotel room at the end of the evening (10pm) my lipstick still looked good, wasn’t perfect but I could have gotten away without re-applying.

At no point during the day did I find any lipstick on my teeth or on my chin, I’m very interested to try the Matte version as my lipstick was a cream and so I did expect I’d have to touch up frequently. Overall my lips didn’t feel dry or goopy, it didn’t look bad after re-applying and it was very comfortable.

Final Thoughts:

Where has this lipstick been all my life? Until this lipstick I dreaded the idea of applying lipstick.

This lipstick is comfortable, pretty, easy to apply and isn’t messy. I will be buying more and this is my new go-to lipstick on days that liquid lipstick just doesn’t cut it.

Thank you for reading, I’ll be posting more product reviews soon.
